Brahm’s Lullaby or Wiegenlied (Op. 49, No. 4) was composed by Johannes Brahms in 1868, this became his most popular piece. This piece is based partially on “S’Is Anderscht”, a duet by Alexander Baumann which was published on 1840s. This lullaby song is dedicated to Bertha Faber, a friend of Brahms for the birth of her second son. The cradle was first performed in Vienna on December 22 1869 by Luise Dustman and Clara Schumann.

The song was analyzed on 2005 and was expressed as maternal voice by Karen Bottge, basing her reflections on writings by theorists like Kittler, Chion, Deleuze, Guattari and Adorno.

Lullaby and good night
With roses bedight
With lilies o’er spread
Is baby’s wee bed
Lullaby and good night
Thy mother’s delight
Bright angels beside
My darling abide
Lay thee down now and rest
May thy slumber be blessed
Lay thee down now and rest
May thy slumber be blessed
Lullaby and good night
With roses bedight
With lilies o’er spread
Is baby’s wee bed
Lay thee down now and rest
May thy slumber be blessed
Lay thee down now and rest
May thy slumber be blessed
Lullaby and good night
You’re thy mother’s delight
Bright angels beside
My darling abide
